Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated construction inspector(s) to work on projects located throughout South Carolina. The position(s) will conduct and document inspections on various buildings projects.
Responsibilities include daily reporting, data collection, quantity calculations, and inspections/testing related to: soil density, concrete, masonry, asphalt, structural bolting/welding, foundation accessibility, and building inspections. This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and the ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays will be required.
Successful candidates will have an associate degree (or higher) in engineering or related field from an accredited secondary institution OR, if no degree, must have at least two years of relevant work experience.
Ideal candidates will have any/all of the following: experience witnessing, monitoring, and/or performing typical materials testing for building construction; one or more South Carolina Department of License, Labor, and Regulation (SCLLR) special inspector certifications (masonry, reinforced concrete, soils); ICC certifications (special inspector, commercial building inspector, mechanical inspector, electrical inspector, plumbing inspector); SCDOT certification (earthwork, base course technician, asphalt roadway technician, foundations technician, concrete technician); AWS certified welding inspector; ACI certification; CEPSCI certification.
